Here’s some happy news for those who are waiting to play with the first PlayStation phone in IndiaSonyEricsson has announced the coming of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to the country’s shores.

With the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play gearing up to come out to play in the Indian playground, April is when gaming freaks who would want to have a charmer of a device to flaunt will be looking to come. The time of launch in India could be scheduled as end of next month.

But then, we are a tad skeptic with regard to that date. This because, we have been told that earlier that Sony would be looking to launch their Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Sony Ericsson Neo handsets during April. That could mean the Xperia Play might get a later date of arrival – may be some time in the beginning of May.

When it arrives, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will carry along with it a price tag of around Rs 34,000. That is the kind of money many Indian gaming-smartphone freaks wouldn’t mind parting with.

A mobile handset that doubles up as a mobile gaming unit, the Xperia Play. If you are looking at what all the device would carry along with it, here goes:

  • 4-inch multi-Touch LCD Display
  • 854 x 480 Resolution
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the inside
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
  • Qualcomm Adreno 205 graphics
  • 5 hours, 35 minutes of battery life to last a single game session
  • GSM/CDMA Capabilities
  • 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LEDFlash
  • Timescape UI

Now that means both gaming and mobile needs packed into one unit. Are you going for it?

All our Indian friends can tell us what indeed makes you go for the device as soon as it arrives in a few days.
